The story behind ‘Murder She Wrote’.

Veteran reggae artiste Pliers believes that the ‘Murder She Wrote’ single, which was produced by the legendary Sly Dunbar and Robbie Shakespeare of Taxi Gang, is one of the “greatest dancehall singles of all time”.

But did you know that Pliers recorded the song no fewer than seven times before it became a hit?

“The story behind that song is amazing, it is a testament to never giving up on what you know is a great song. The first time I did it for Harry J Records in the 1987; it wasn’t promoted properly but it was so good that I know (a big American musician) sampled one-one lyrics out of the original song for one of his hits, but it wasn’t done in a way where I could claim,” he said.

Pliers said he recorded the song with several other producers over a period of five years. The words were stuck in his head: “I know this little girl her name is Maxine, her beauty’s like a bunch of rose, but if I ever tell you ’bout Maxine, you would say I don’t know what I know/but murder she wrote”.

Celebrating over 25 years in show business, four-time Grammy Award-winning R&B group Boyz II Men are prepping for the release of the brand new album, Under the Streetlight, due out October 20.

A tribute to the classic, harmony-driven sound that inspired the iconic R&B trio, the 10-track album features a personal selection of timeless songs chosen by founding members Nathan Morris, Shawn Stockman and Wanya Morris, plus one original song – all with a Boyz II Men twist.

“Growing up and experiencing doo-wop music definitely influenced Boyz II Men’s sound,” said Nathan Morris. ‘Under the Streetlight’ has been a passion project that we’ve wanted to create for a while to bring us back to our roots and make the music that inspired us when we first started the group.”

On Under the Streetlight, Boyz II Men put their spin on classics such as “Why Do Fools Fall in Love,” (Frankie Lymon & The Teenagers), “Stay” (Maurice Williams & the Zodiacs) and “I Only Have Eyes for You” (The Flamingos) along with their new original song, “Ladies Man.”

The album also includes features from Brian McKnight on “I’ll Come Running Back To You,” “Tears On My Pillow,” and “A Sunday Kind Of Love”; Amber Riley (Glee) on “Anyone Who Knows What Love Is”; and Take Six on “A Thousand Miles Away.”

Brian McKnight delivers a heartwarming ballad, and he does it again with “I Want You”.

The R&B legend released his 13th studio album, Genesis, on Friday (Aug. 25) and accompanied the LP with a video for the smooth new love song.

Known to clean up well in bespoke suits, the visual opens with McKnight in a dapper tuxedo as he begins to sing the romantic slow jam. “Baby you got that something, and I need you now / I know you like to hear me say it out loud,” he sings.

Then, as he gets ready to depart his hotel room, Mcknight puts on a silver masquerade mask and makes his way to a private room with other adults wearing masks. As couples leave the room one-by-one, Brian sees his mystery date and shortly they head to their bedroom.

Their intimate evening is left up to our imagine, but next we see them cuddling in the morning, and it’s revealed that the mystery woman is Brian’s actual wife in real life.

Speaking about his new album, McKnight explained: “’Genesis’ is a new beginning of sorts with a nod to my past, firmly rooted in the present, and looking towards the future.”

Mary J. Blige owes the IRS $6.5MIL in back taxes

At the beginning of the month, Mary J. Blige filed financial documents as part of her divorce from Martin ‘Kendu’ Isaacs.

The income and expense declaration was filed on August 8 in a Los Angeles court and revealed not only her monthly income but the fact that she owed the IRS millions of dollars in back taxes. The $6.5 million in back taxes covers what she owes from 2008 to 2016.

Blige, according to the documents, makes $326,930 a month. She has been ordered to give Isaacs $30,000 per month, which is lower than the $130,000 per month that he had asked for. However, that order is only temporary, and the proceedings are ongoing.

She also listed her monthly expenses, including $14,000 per month for her Los Angeles rental home and $2,340 for her two Mercedes-Benz cars. She reportedly still owns a mansion in “New Jersy” that is on the market but has been boarded up and listed as “un-rentable.” It is apparently in a state of “disrepair.”

Isaacs is requesting that Blige pay most of his monthly spending, which tops out at around $116,000 per month. He also wants $10,000 per month to care for his parents and for his children, both of which are from a past relationship.

Grammy-nominated R&B artist, Kenny Lattimore returns with the new single “Push.”

Produced by Dra-kkar Wesley aka Madison, the commanding ballad showcases an edgier side to Lattimore. His emotive delivery paints a picture of a man who realizes he has made a mistake by pushing away the love of his life. Laying bare the inner workings of a man’s mind and hearts of women for listeners.

The song’s retro sound is the most obvious departure from Lattimore’s usual cadence but manages to maintain the smooth sound that is classic Kenny.

“The sound doesn’t conform,” explains Lattimore. “One of the things that I did think about was staying true to myself and the other was the fact that I remember the eighties well. We wanted to create something contemporary and timeless.”

“Push” is the first single off Lattimore’s forthcoming 9th studio album, which is due out October 13.

Temporary restraining order issued against Rob Kardashian.

A court commissioner on Monday issued a temporary restraining order against Rob Kardashian in response to the reality television star’s posting of explicit images of his ex-fiancee on social media last week.

Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner James E. Blancarte granted the order based on filings by Kardashian’s ex Blac Chyna, who also claims he hit her in the thigh earlier this year, knocking her down and leaving her bruised.

“Rob has been violent with me in the past and I am afraid to be around him,” Chyna, whose real name is Angela White, wrote in court documents filed Monday in Los Angeles.

The order bars Kardashian from contacting Chyna or coming within 100 yards of her home, car or workplace. The order also prohibits him from posting images online of Chyna or the infant daughter they share.

Chyna’s attorney Lisa Bloom called the hearing “a complete and total victory.”

“The judge gave us everything we asked for,” she said.

Maia Campbell Declines LL Cool J’s Help: “I’m Doing Good”

A circulated video of actress Maia Campbell high on drugs in Atlanta, GA, has garnered considerable attention, rendering both fans and critics nearly speechless (and in some cases, quite the opposite). In it, the former In The House actress is seen toothless and disheveled, while being taunted by a man.

After the clip surfaced over the weekend, former co-star and rapper LL Cool J took to social media, urging followers to help him find her: “If someone has a contact on Maia, please let me know.”

Late Monday night (July 11), the 40-year-old responded to LL in a less-than-reassuring message.

“Hey Todd, look bro, I love you,” she begins, referring to her former colleague in the video below. “I don’t need help, I just need a benefit concert for mental health. Don’t DM me, it’s really me and this is Darryl,” she adds of the person recording her.

However, Rick’s camp is singing a different tune.

The ladies of TLC have finally delivered their anticipated self-titled final album.

Led by the Snoop Dogg-assisted single “Way Back,” the 12-track set includes additional early releases “Haters,” “It’s Sunny” and “American Gold.” Following suit with their socially and culturally conscious lyrical content, the album also includes standout songs “Perfect Girls,” “Joy Ride,” and the bold “Aye Muthafucka.”

The whole album was crafted over 2 years time, after the project was crowd-funded through a very successful Kickstarter campaign. Fans of the iconic R&B group raised over $430,000 to fund the album. In return for their donations, contributors received perks including a TLC digital scrapbook, autographed lyrics, photo shoot, and listening party.

Marking the duo’s first release without Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes, who passed in 2002, the album only features an interlude with the late superstar. “The family, they held onto the other stuff,” T-Boz told Billboard. “I guess maybe they wanted money or something. I don’t think she’d be happy that people are trying to hold her vocals hostage.”

The Weeknd takes viewers into a world of wonder in his artistic new video for “Secrets.”

The eerie Pedro Martin-Calero-directed visuals highlight each angle as the Canadian singer is filmed in an architectural masterpiece of a hotel.  Riding a rounded elevator, walking through the lobby, split through glass reflections, the pop superstar appears almost invisible.

A woman, who stars as his love interest, in seen writhing over a transforming white bed as some spooky men look on. Abel has his own moments of creepy staring, while the woman is seen with another man, but is it supposed to be him? Or is he projecting his fantasies of being with her?

The video leaves you wondering if there are multiple underlining plots and scenarios. But, keeping in line with his previous visuals, the Starboy cross appears at the end. Abel walks through the snow outside peering up at the giant floating crucifix and the screen goes dark.

The Weeknd will close out the U.S. leg of his “Starboy: Legend of the Fall Tour” on June 17 in Dover, Delaware, and then take the trek back to Europe.

Bill Cosby May Take The Stand

Bill Cosby, currently on trial in Pennsylvania for his alleged 2004 sexual assault of Andrea Constand, is considering taking the stand, Deadline’s Dominic Patten reported Thursday night. Cosby spokesperson Andrew Wyatt incidentally backed the report during a court recess Friday afternoon, when he suggested that the star would consider testifying. “We’re weighing every option,” Wyatt said.

According to Patten’s Thursday night dispatch, Wyatt suggested that Cosby was in a “good mood” about the developments of the trial. Friday morning, the jury heard parts of the 2005-2006 depositions that were part of a civil lawsuit brought against him by Constand — portions of which must have led the defense to believe that putting Cosby on the stand would help win more favor with the jury.

Neyo Warns Women Not To Go To Tyrese (Or Any Man) For Relationship Advice.

On Monday night, singer and actor Tyrese posted a meme on Instagram asking for “men only” to give relationship advice to women in the comments. Although the post garnered over 3,000 comments, the stand out response came from R&B singer Ne-Yo.

Among gems like “Listen to your man and respect him,” and “Stop chasing money, start chasing love,” came Ne-Yo, the voice of reason:

“Don’t listen to any of our advice,” the singer commented. “Do what you want.”

Tyrese has come under fire for sharing his unsolicited views about women in the past. In addition to writing an entire self-help book for women called Manology, the “Fast and the Furious” star often uses social media to share his tone-deaf advice to women. In April, he faced backlash after a BET interview in which he railed against “sluts, skeezers, hoes, tramps and overly aggressive, promiscuous women.”

Nicki Minaj Teases Next Project Will Be An Unforgettable Hip-Hop Classic

Nicki Minaj has been donned more of a pop star than a true MC due to collaborations and her charting success over the course of her career, so the declaration she will reportedly be making on Saturday’s (June 10) episode of Shade 45’s Whoolywood Shuffle might come off as a shock to some.

Naturally when it comes to the first lady of Young Money, the topic of her next project always comes up. Nicki hasn’t released a project since The Pinkprint, three years ago this December. But Onika Maraj is well aware that her fans are more than deserving of a project from the Young Money affiliate.

Sean Paul To Drake: Give Jamaican Dancehall Artists Their “Accolades”.

Sean Paul is calling out Drake for not properly crediting Jamaican dancehall artists for his incredibly popular songs and sound. In an interview with Metro UK, the “No Lie” artist discussed Drizzy’s 2016 hit “One Dance,” and said that although the song was good, it would have been even better with the proper “accolades” for the sound’s origins.

“I think at the time when it was popping off, it would have been good for him [Drake] to actually put accolades towards the whole culture,” said the Kingston, Jamaica native of the song’s Caribbean flavor.

Chance the Rapper gives $1 million to Chicago schools.

Chance the Rapper’s unusual intervention into Chicago Public Schools’ funding crisis took an even more curious turn on Monday. The Grammy-winner presented a $1 million check to city schools and urged Gov. Bruce Rauner to use his executive powers to help the nation’s third-largest district.

The Republican governor, a former venture capitalist, responded by noting his own philanthropy and floating Chicago school funding ideas that would face tough odds in the Democratic-controlled Legislature. Illinois has gone two years without a budget, the longest such stalemate of any state in nearly a century.

The back-and-forth came after a meeting Friday between Rauner and the artist — whose real name is Chancelor Bennett — that left the rapper visibly agitated. Chance asked for the meeting after he won three Grammys last month, including best new artist, and Rauner tweeted congratulations.

The Chicago native stopped at an elementary school near where he grew up to announce the donation to a schools’ foundation, calling himself a “public school kid.” He also accused Rauner of failing to present solutions without “caveats or ultimatums.”

“This isn’t about politics. This isn’t about posturing. This is about taking care of the kids,” he said. “Everybody and their mama knows what’s going on in Chicago. We’re about to enhance the conversation on supporting and funding the education of the kids in Chicago.”

Singer Trey Songz declines plea offer in assault case

Singer Trey Songz has declined to accept an offer that would have reduced a felony assault charge stemming from a concert appearance in Detroit to a misdemeanor.

The Detroit Free Press reports that Songz, whose real name is Tremaine Neverson, was arraigned via video Friday in Wayne County Circuit Court from Los Angeles.

The newspaper reports that the plea offer remains open. It also would place the 32-year-old Songz on two years’ probation as part of his sentencing.

Songz was charged in December with aggravated assault and assaulting a police officer. Authorities said microphones and speakers were thrown from the Joe Louis Arena stage. A police sergeant also was punched.

Police have said the singer became upset when told to end his performance.

The case is heading to trial.

Erykah Badu’s ‘Baduizm’ Is Still Genre Bending And Defining 20 Years Later.

It’s widely accepted that black women are strong, but seldom, if ever, do black women get to be free. In 1997 with her debut album Baduizm, Erykah Badu courageously taught sistahs how to move in a world sans the oftentimes unrealistic responsibility that comes with being black and woman. Erykah also did this with a sweet yet potent voice from yesteryear. Sounding like a direct heir to Billie Holiday, Ms. Badu, a child of blues, jazz and hip-hop married her influences with a type of sittin-on-the-front-porch-with-yo-granny kind of wisdom to create the genre defining  Baduizm, and thus solidifying our everlasting adoration for this analog girl in a digital world.

Montell Jordan Shares The Story Of How He Transitioned From A R&B Singer To A Pastor

Former R&B singer Montell Jordan still remains a staple artist on everyone’s kickback playlist, even though he’s found a new passion in the church. The Cali native rose to stardom in the early 90s with his infectious hit “This Is How We Do It,” that sat atop the charts in 1995. Making history as Def Jam’s first R&B release, the melody was later followed up by his collaborations with No Limit’s Master P and Silkk the Shocker, and garnered songwriting credits for a countless number of R&B jams, including Deborah Cox’s vocally-challenging “Nobody’s Supposed to Be Here.”

But in 2011, Jordan decided the music industry would no longer be his bread and butter, and embraced his calling to pursue a career in ministry. Now, he’s revisiting the story of how he went from the studio to the pulpit on a new episode of Oprah Winfrey’s Where Are The Now?

The International Soca Monarch semi-finals will be heading back to its original home at the Arima Velodrome.

The semis have been held at the Queen’s Park Savannah for the past two years but will return to Arima.

Peter Scoon, chairman of the Caribbean Prestige Foundation (CPF), organisers of Soca Monarch, said it was felt it needed to go back to the people of the East/West corridor.

“It was brought it to Port-of-Spain because of economics but at the end of the day we listened to the people and the people said take it back to the people of Arima. We want the involvement of the East/West corridor, people felt the energy was better,” he said, noting that the semis got good support at the Savannah.

Another big venue change may be in the works for the finals of the show.

Culture Minister: No Greens likely for Panorama 2017.

Panorama will be on but the Greens may not be a part of the event in 2017.

Dr Nyan Gadsby-Dolly, Minister of Community Development, Arts and Culture told Loop that while she is sure the annual pan event will be on she does not expect the Greens to return.

The Greens, she said, has been Pan Trinbago’s private event.

“I would not expect that Pan Trinbago has what it takes to put on the Greens, I don’t expect it would happen,” she said.

The National Carnival Commission (NCC) in conjunction with Pan Trinbago will execute Panorama 2017.

The Minister said NCC will take responsibility for all finances associated with the event including gate receipts.

This action follows the pan body’s inability to pay its players though the Minister said they were given monies to pay pannists for Panorama 2016.

Reports are that cheques have bounced and following the hospitalisation of Pan Trinbago’s president Keith Diaz, pannists were instructed to refrain from cashing their cheques.

The Minister said they have in discussions with NCC to consider options for paying pannists the $1000 owed to them.

“The situation is a convoluted one. There are a number of players who play for different bands, there are names on record that are not players, the list needs cleaning up. We have asked Pan Trinbago to supply a list of players to see the global debt owed to players, there are some inconsistencies about that.

“The Government and taxpayers have already paid that money so we have to understand what is the debt, who is owed and understand if they are part of the band and how to use the proceeds from Panorama. We may think about advancing (the money) once we can verify how much is owed and take it back out from Panorama 2017. We understand the disappointment of the players,”  said the Minister.

The Minister said based on the body’s financial problems as well as allegations of financial improprieties in other stakeholder bodies such as the Trinbago Unified Calypsonians Organisation (TUCO), the Ministry will be looking at new models going forward.

“The issues really suggest that the model allowing them to take full control of their finances with limited oversight has not been as successful as it supposed to be when it comes to transparency  and accountability,” she said, noting that in Pan Trinbago’s case, NCC has not known how much money is brought in through gate receipts, which could be millions of dollars.

A Love Letter Tupac Wrote In Jail Could Sell For Over $25,000

Today’s topic of conversation concerns Tupac’s handwritten love letter, that could reportedly sell for over $25,000. The letter describes the famed rapper’s adoration for his lover, and will be sold through Goldin Auctions on Jan. 16.

READ: Tupac’s “Hail Mary” Lyrics Were Added To Christmas Carol Book

TMZ reports that in the passage, Pac pens statements like, “Ever been tied to a bedpost and licked like a lollipop?” in response to a love letter he received from a woman while he was incarcerated in 1995. The letter goes on to question, “Ever had the taste sucked from your mouth taken thru 12 positions of love making so thoroughly that you are tired to shower or get dressed?”

This is not the first time that something from the “California Love” artist was auctioned for a high price. Back in Oct. 2016, TMZ reported that the late rapper’s pendant was being sold for $125,000. The chain was worn around Pac’s neck when he was shot in 1994. One of Tupac’s family members gave it to Moments In Time owner Gary Zimet to sell, and will receive a majority of the profits.

‘Hidden Figures’ Lands Atop Box Office With $22.8 Million In Ticket Sales

A historic, non-fictional story just found another place in the record books. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Hidden Figures landed at the top spot at the box office this past weekend. The film, directed by Theodore Melfi (St. Vincent, The Beneficiary), tells the pivotal story of three African-American mathematicians who played an integral role in NASA’s early space efforts.

The reel raked in $22.8 million after its nationwide debut, knocking out its main competitor, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. After news of Hidden Figures’ massive success, co-star Taraji P. Henson shared her excitement on Instagram.

“I have been told my entire career ‘Black women can’t open films domestically or internationally.’ Well anything is possible,” she wrote. “Most importantly this proves that PEOPLE LIKE GOOD MATERIAL. HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH GENDER OR RACE. Agreed?”

Gabrielle Union And BET Ink Settlement Over ‘Being Mary Jane’ Dispute

The forthcoming season of Being Mary Jane was met with a hiccup involving the show’s frontrunner, Gabrielle Union, and the hit drama series’ network home, BET. Earlier this year, the award-winning actress reportedly filed a lawsuit against BET on reports that the company planned to mesh seasons four and five for a 20-episode run, which would also decrease Union’s pay despite the lengthy season.

Now, good news is on the horizon for both parties involved. According to Deadline, Union and BET reached a settlement in the breach of contract litigation, but remained tight-lipped on the details of the $3 million lawsuit.

‘Rogue One’ soars to second-best December debut with $155m

“Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” soared to the top of the weekend box office as expected, scoring the second-best December opening ever with $155 million in estimated ticket sales.

After the biggest Thursday night debut of the year, the intergalactic adventure blasted past industry expectations for a $130 million weekend, according Sunday’s studio estimates. “Rogue One” opened at No. 1 in all markets globally, though it has yet to bow in China and Korea.

“We’re in uncharted territory for December,” said Paul Dergarabedian, senior media analyst for box office tracker comScore. “It’s going to be really hard for any movie to catch up to this movie. … This is only the second time a movie has opened this big in December.”

The record-setter was “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” the space saga’s seventh installment, which debuted to $247.9 million in the U.S. and Canada last December.

Like “The Force Awakens” did in 2015, “Rogue One” could top the box office for the rest of the year, Dergarabedian said.

Set before the events of the original 1977 “Star Wars,” it stars Felicity Jones and Diego Luna as leaders of a rebel faction that steals plans for its imperial enemy’s master weapon, the Death Star.

“Rogue One” knocked the No. 1 movie for the past three weeks, Disney’s “Moana,” to a distant second with $11.6 million, followed by “Office Christmas Party” with $8.4 million.

The weekend’s other new release, the critically panned Will Smith drama “Collateral Beauty,” opened in fourth place with $7 million.

The group released a statement on Twitter early Monday confirming Cabello’s departure and wishing her well.

The group will continue on as a quartet. The statement says, “We are four strong, committed women who will continue with Fifth Harmony as well as our solo endeavors.”

Fifth Harmony was formed on the second season of the “The X Factor” in 2012 and scored its biggest hit last year with “Worth It.”

Yasiin Bey Allowed To Leave South Africa After Apology

Earlier this year, South African authorities arrested Yasiin Bey, the rapper formerly known as Mos Def, when he attempted to leave South Africa carrying something called a World Passport — a document issued by the World Service Authority nonprofit, which advocates for world citizenship. South Africa, where Bey has been living for the past few years, does not recognize the World Passport as a legitimate travel document. And ever since then, Bey hasn’t been allowed to leave the country. But now Reuters reports that Bey has apologized, and South Africa has agreed to drop the charges against him.

According to Reuters, Bey will now be “declared an undesirable person,” and he won’t be allowed to return to South Africa, even though he’s been living in Cape Town since 2013. But the country also won’t be charging him with any crimes. In a statement, the government says, “[He] has unreservedly apologized to the Government of South Africa. The department is satisfied with the apology [and] will withdraw the charges against him.”

Sony Looking To Reboot ‘The Jeffersons’ & ‘Good Times’

We saw it happen with Fuller House, and now it’s looks like Norman Lear’s beloved sitcoms could be getting the same treatment. According to reports, Sony and Lear are in the works of rebooting several classic shows including The Jeffersons and Good Times as miniseries.

While some other resurrected series have picked up where they left off years later, Sony has plans to recreate the classic episodes of the shows with new actors, according to Variety. The shows would still work around the old script, but would just package them as short, six-episode seasons. While this definitely doesn’t sound like the ideal situation for fans who remember every punchline and narrative from the 1970s series, it may make the most sense considering the fact that lead characters such as Sherman Hemsley (he played George Jefferson on The Jeffersons) have passed away.

John Legend Has Some Harsh Words For Kanye West’s Meeting With Donald Trump.

Kanye West may have thought he was doing the country a service by meeting with president-elect Donald Trump to discuss “multicultural issues,” but John Legend isn’t buying it one bit. In an interview with French outlet Clique, the Darkness and Lightartist blasted the rapper for going to the Trump Tower, labelling it a clear publicity stunt.

“I don’t think it’s impossible to talk to [Donald Trump] about issues, but I won’t be used as a publicity stunt. I think Kanye was a publicity stunt,” Legend told the publication on Dec. 14. The singer then expressed his disappointment for West’s earlier comments — pre-mental breakdown — in which the rapper stated that he would have voted for Trump in the general elections.

“I’m pretty disappointed with Kanye that he says he would have voted for Trump. I think Trump has been corrosive, his message has been corrosive to the country,” the singer, who has been a vocal protester of many of the president-elect’s policies, said. “I think the things he’s promised to do have been very concerning for a lot of people, and for Kanye to support that message is very disappointing.” And when the interviewer suggested that West may have had another motive for the meeting, Legend responded: “Whatever’s in his mind, I disagree with him.”

Akon Is Reportedly Being Sued For $1 Million By A Fellow Producer

The site reads that Clopton worked with the Konvict Kartel head honcho on a number of songs for the label, but was left hanging when it came to being compensated for a majority of the tracks he helped create with Akon since he began working with him in 2008.

“In the suit, Clopton alleges the cover-up was intentional, so Akon could keep Clopton’s royalties from himself,” TMZ writes. “He accuses Akon of a ‘pattern of racketeering activity.’” Clopton is looking to have his contract with the musician terminated as well as $1 million in damages.

Netflix spokesperson says Prince discussed reality show

Here’s something else we lost with the death of Prince: A Netflix reality series centered on his Paisley Park home in Minnesota.

A Netflix spokesperson told The Associated Press on Saturday that the online entertainment company had been in “discussions” with Prince about a series, but that the project did not “come to fruition” before his death in April.

Photographer Maya Washington, a friend of the performer known for such hits as “Purple Rain” and “1999,” told GQ recently that he had talked about the show and how he didn’t want to be in it.

“Why not? You’re so funny,” she told him. Answered Prince: “Maya, I can’t be funny. I have to save the world.”

Ne-Yo Says He’ll Perform at Trump’s Inauguration

Back in October, Ne-Yo was spitting a big game saying he’d be moving to Canada with Drake if Donald Trump was to win the 2016 presidential election.

Now that Trump actually did become the president-elect, Ne-Yo is singing a different tune.

In a new interview with TMZ, the singer said that, in the hypothetical situation of Trump asking him to perform at his inauguration, he’d accept the invitation without hesitation.

“I wouldn’t go because I support Donald Trump, I’d go because it’s a dope party,” he said with a huge grin on his face.

He then adds that he’d go to collect his check and would do so while flipping Trump the bird.

After all, business (and life) must go on.

Mary J. Blige’s ex wants $129K a month in spousal support

Mary J. Blige‘s ex wants her to dig deep into her wallet.

In court docs obtained by TMZ, the singer’s estranged husband, Martin “Kendu” Isaacs, is seeking $129,391 a month in spousal support. While he originally requested spousal support in September, having been exposed to an exuberant lifestyle during their 12-year marriage, he believes Blige, 45, should help him maintain it.

Isaacs claimed he’s been left without a source of income after Blige fired him as her manager, shortly after she filed for divorce in July. Though Blige gave him $35,000 in August, $50,000 in September, as well as $25,000 for attorney fees, Isaacs claimed in the filings to have spent the cash to “secure new living accommodations,” per the Daily Mail.

Isaacs wants Blige to cover the cost of an $8,000 private chef, a $3,200 personal trainer, as well as the $5,000 he gives to his parents per month. He also requested an additional $100,000 for legal costs.

Though the couple signed a prenup two days before their December 2003 wedding, Isaacs believes the document is invalid as he did not have a lawyer present.

Reps for Blige did not immediately return a request for comment.
